Miranda Hobbs is an energetic, career-oriented, red-haired lawyer with an extremely cynical view of relationships and men. A 1990 Harvard Law School from Philadelphia, she is Carrie Bradshaw's confidant and voice of reason. At the beginning of the season, she is portrayed as distrustful and resentful of men, but this image softens over the years.

Steve Brady and Miranda meet in Season 2 when Miranda is waiting for Carrie at the bar where Steve works. Although Miranda simply sees Steve as a one night stand after they meet, Steve feels a strong connection and asks her to see her again. Miranda initially refuses, but they become a couple after she realizes her intense attraction to Steve. The difference in the couple's economic status creates tension in their relationship, and they eventually break up. However, they remain on friendly terms, which often leads to a sexual relationship between them.

At the clinic, she changes her mind and decides to keep the baby. Miranda tells Steve that she is pregnant and will take all the responsibility, including raising the baby and providing all the finances involved, but Steve can visit her whenever he wants and can usually be a part of the baby's life. Steve later proposes to Miranda, which prompts her to yell at him that she doesn't want to marry him, to which Steve replies that he really doesn't want to marry her. Miranda gives birth to Brady and they struggle to raise him together as platonic partners.
Miranda and Steve were married in a simple ceremony with their closest friends and family in a community garden that they accidentally discovered on a walk.

Miranda at first pretends not to love Steve, but when she tries to confess her feelings for him, she discovers that he is now dating another woman, Debbie. They kiss and are together again three weeks later; they remain together for the remainder of the series, eventually marrying in a simple ceremony to their closest friends and family in a community garden, and purchasing a Brooklyn townhouse for their growing family.

Upon Robert's arrival, Miranda is immediately enamored with him and somewhat grabs an interview to find out more about him. Robert is eventually granted permission to move, and over time, they develop a brief but lively romantic relationship. Despite sparks of Miranda and Robert's chemistry, Miranda can't help longing for her current boyfriend, Steve Brady, who comes back time and again, time and time again.
The relationship between Miranda and Robert was short, but bright and full of tenderness.
